Kindergartens for Life – A Social-Educational Initiative by Brothers and Sisters
for Israel - Hamal Ezrahi
At Kindergartens for Life, we believe that the kindergarten years are formative years for life — and that a kindergarten is much more than childcare. It is a space that shapes identity and values that accompany a child throughout their lifetime.
Kindergartens for Life is committed to creating educational environments that have a lasting impact — far beyond the hours and years a child spends in kindergarten. We work to empower kindergarten teachers as key figures in a child's life, providing them with the tools, support, and recognition they deserve — turning every kindergarten into a lifelong gift for the children, the teachers, and the community in Israel.
We developed a model that combines pedagogy and spatial design through a process of deep listening and understanding of the teacher's needs and vision, as well as the unique characteristics of the community.
We begin with a listening-based planning process — a personalized approach that involves the educational teams and the community in the planning and design, aligned with the kindergarten staff's educational philosophy, the community's character, and the physical space.
From there, we move on to the exciting construction day — when volunteers from nr and members of the kindergarten community come together for one day to build the kindergarten.
So far, approximately 250 kindergartens have been established across the country — around 90 of them at temporary evacuation sites, and the rest as permanent kindergartens in the Gaza border communities and in the north.
